The society of the former doctoral candidates of the IFSW (VEDIS) has awarded this year’s price for the best master thesis to Mr. David Traunecker. The topic of his master's thesis is: Determination of the process-relevant influencing variables on the grain structure and hardness during selective laser beam melting of AISi10Mg
Mr. Traunecker investigated the influence of different processing parameters (laser power, feeding rate, beam diameter) on the hardness and microstructure of the additively manufactured components, as well as the thermal emissions that occur during the production of the components.
With the help of the gained knowledge, Mr. Traunecker succeeded in producing a demonstrator component that reproducibly exhibited different microstructures and different hardnesses in defined areas.
